- Illuminate Dance Studio takes a positive and supportive approach to teaching and developing students. This approach is desirable to fostering an environment, in which, students are able to thrive and reach their fullest potential.
- Our approach includes; positive reinforcement and behaviour management, constructive and encouraging feedback and the promotion of positive self-talk.
- It is the responsibility of all students and parents to help ensure that everyone feels valued and welcome whilst with us. We pride our self on our Family Friendly community, which strives to ensure that all students and parents feel safe, secure and happy whilst dancing with us.
OUR COMMITMENT TO CHILD SAFETY:
- Illuminate Dance Studio is committed to upholding a safe dance environment for all students and families. We work with students to promote a healthy and positive outlook towards dance, including positive physical, social, and emotional developmental outcomes. We utilise the Safe Dance Practices & Principles.
ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY:
- ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO will not tolerate any form of aggression, including but not limited to: bullying, harassment, discrimination, intimidation, gossip or any conduct that is deemed to be inappropriate, from or between students, parents and staff members. This includes inappropriate emails and/or texts sent to ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO. Any students or parents displaying these actions will be asked to leave ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO immediately without notice and without a refund.
- Students displaying any behaviour that it is deemed to be disruptive to the class learning environment, fellow classmates or to the teacher, will not be tolerated at any time. If this occurs, we will inform the Parent and/or Guardian and we will ask the student to leave the school, without a refund.
- Students and/or Parents who break policy and/or procedures will be asked to leave ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO, without notice and without a refund.
1. AUTHORISATION OF MEDICAL/EMERGENCY ATTENTION POLICY:
- 1.1. In the case of an accident/injury/illness I authorise the qualified first-aider on duty to treat/manage my child.
- 1.2. I accept that, at the discretion of the qualified first-aider, an ambulance may need to be called.
- 1.3. I agree to pay any fees associated with emergency medical care.
2. PERMISSION FOR PHOTOS/VIDEOS POLICY:
- 2.1. I agree to allow photos and videos to be taken of my child and accept that they may be used for advertising and/or publicity purposes, both during and after my enrolment period. This includes but is not limited to; social media, website & promotional material (eg: flyers).
- 2.2. ‘Me & My Grown Up’ (18 months+): By enrolling, I give consent for my child and for myself (and/or the parent/guardian attending classes) to be included in any photograph or video that may take place during classes and agree for these photos and videos to be used by ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO.
- 2.3. Starlets Dance (3-5 years): By enrolling, I give consent for my child, to be included in any photograph or video that may take place during classes, concerts and/or rehearsals and agree for these photos and videos to be used by ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO.
3. FEES POLICY:
- 3.1. I understand that all fees, including the annual registration fee are non-refundable/transferable.
- 3.2. I agree to pay the annual registration fee.
- 3.3. I agree to pay fees, by the due date stated on the invoice. I understand that if I fail to adhere to this, I will be refused entry into classes until the invoice is paid.
- 3.4. I understand that there are no casual class payments on offer and no part payments accepted for fees.
- 3.5. I understand that fees are paid by the Term, for the full 'quantity' of classes in the term as listed on the invoice (class fees cannot be deducted from an invoice). If you are unable to attend week 1 or miss a class in the term, you are able to book a 'catch up' lesson by attending a similar class on another day. If you are going away on a holiday for an extended period of time, you are able to book in catch up classes for your missed classes.
4. COMMUNICATION PROCEDURE/ENROLMENT POLICY/CLASS SPOTS POLICY:
- 4.1. I understand that regular communication about classes and news will be made via the e-mail and phone number I supplied on my child's Enrolment Form.
- 4.2. I understand that I am solely responsible for keeping up to date with information from ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO by reading all of the information in a timely manner, contained in emails and texts messages.
- 4.3. I agree to add '[email protected]' & ‘[email protected]’ to my address book and/or safe senders list and accept that ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO is not responsible for any emails sent to my 'junk/spam/trash' folder.
- 4.4. I agree to notify ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO if my provided e-mail address or phone number changes.
- 4.5. I understand that ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO reserves the right to place and/or move my child into a class that best suits their needs, age and ability.
- 4.6. I understand that classes are capped for quality, once a class is FULL, it is full. If you are wanting to trial or enroll into a full class, you are able to be placed on the WAITLIST and we will get in contact with you, when a position becomes available.
- 4.7. I understand that Trial classes do not secure my 2024 Enrolment spot. We do our best to accommodate Trial Class Bookings, however, if a class fills prior to you undertaking your trial class, we may need to contact you and reschedule your trial class to another available class time. If you are interested in SECURING your class spot, you can do so by PLACING AN ENROLMENT and paying the ‘Annual Registration fee’.
- 4.8. I understand that the ‘Annual Registration fee’ can secure my class spot up until Term 1 classes commence for the new year. After classes have commenced, I understand that the Annual Registration fee can only secure my class spot for up to 7 days (or up until my Term fee invoice is due, whichever is sooner). After these 7 days, I understand that to secure my enrolment, I am required to pay the Term fee.
- 4.9. NEW TERM: I understand that if I do not inform ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO of my child’s absence during the first two weeks of a new term, that ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO may assume that my child is not continuing with classes, and therefore my child’s class spot may be forfeited.
- 4.10. NEW TERM: I understand that if I do not make full payment within the first two weeks of a new term, that my child’s class spot may be forfeit, at the sole discretion of ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO.
- 4.11. DURING TERM: I understand that if I do not inform ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO of my child’s absence over a prolonged period of three or more weeks, that ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO may assume that my child is not continuing with classes, and therefore my child’s class spot may be forfeited.
- 4.12. DURING YEAR: I understand that if my child skips a term in the year, that my child’s class place may be given to another child wanting to dance in that term. Upon recommencement of classes, I will need to reapply for an available class spot (as class spots are not reserved).
- 4.13. I understand that ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO reserves the right to change class timetable schedules and/or teachers, at any point during the 2024 year.
5. CLASS UNIFORM ITEMS
- 5.1. I understand that any class uniform items (bought from ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO) once taken home, are deemed to be 2nd hand, and are therefore non-refundable/transferable.
- 5.2. I understand that I am able to list/post any of my 2nd hand uniform and/or shoes in the ‘Illuminate Dance Parents Group’ on Facebook, to sell to another parent.
6. ATTENDANCE & ARRIVING FOR CLASS PROCEDURE/TROPHY POLICY:
- 6.1. I understand that my child is expected to arrive promptly at the start time of their classes each week, and that my child is expected to attend their classes weekly. ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO encourage students to arrive early and to either stretch or play with friends whilst waiting in the foyer area.
- 6.2. Upon arrival in the foyer, please ensure your child changes into their first dance shoes required for their upcoming class. This ensures your child is ready to dance when their classes commence.
- 6.3. Students are required to bring a drink bottle to every class.
- 6.4. If your child is in two or more classes, please ensure they have a dance bag, that keeps all of their belongings, shoes and uniform together.
- 6.5. I understand that if my child misses three or more classes in Terms 2 or 4, that they may be taken out of part or whole of a Dance Concert routine, in the respective upcoming Concert. 6.6. Students who are enrolled for a consecutive period of 5 years, will receive a 5 Year Trophy. This is awarded at the End of Year Concert, in your child’s 5th enrolled year.
- 6.7. Students who are enrolled for a consecutive period of 10 years, will receive a Major 10 Year Trophy. This is awarded at the End of Year Concert, in your child’s 10th enrolled year. 6.8. Students who break their consecutive enrolment period (by skipping a term/s throughout their enrolment) must make up to a total of 20 enrolled terms, before being awarded their 5 Year Trophy.
7. MID-YR & END OF YR CONCERT PARTICIPATION POLICY:
- 7.1. I understand that ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO strongly encourages and recommends that all dancers in Starlets Dance and above (3 years+) participate in the Mid-Year & End of Year Concerts. Concert participation fosters a strong development of skills excellence, self-confidence, memory development, friendship bonding, teamwork, goal setting and nurtures a love of performing!
- 7.2. I understand that participation in both the Mid-Year and End of Year Concert is optional. ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO assumes all students will be participating in the Concerts, unless otherwise informed by you.
- 7.3. I agree to let ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO know as soon as possible, via email, if I don't want my child to participate in either Concerts, along with a statement on the reason for non-participation.
- 7.4. I understand that Concert participation is ultimately left to the discretion of the teacher. If my child’s teacher does not believe that my child is ready for the upcoming Concert, the teacher will advise me, and we will work together to get my child ready to perform in the following Concert.
- 7.5. I understand that if my child is performing in either the Mid-Year or End of Year Concerts, that my child is required to attend, in full, the Term 2 or Term 4 classes, respectively.
- 7.6. I understand that I will be unable to participate in the Mid-Year and/or End of Year Concerts, if I have not paid my class term fees in full.
- 7.7. I agree to buy and/or hire costumes and pay the concert video fee, if participating in the Mid-Year & End of Year Concerts.
- 7.8. I understand that Concert Costume fees are non-refundable/transferable. All 'BUY' & 'HIRE' costumes are custom ordered/made to fit your child/ren's measurements. Once paid for, costume orders are placed immediately for your child, and cannot be withdrawn.
- 7.9. I understand that if I pull out of the Concert, after concert costumes have been paid, that this costume payment is non-refundable/transferable.
- 7.10. I understand that Concert Tickets are non-refundable/transferable. If you are needing to sell a ticket, you can do so by posting the available ticket on our Facebook Group ('Illuminate Dance Parents Group'), so that another Dance Parent has the opportunity to purchase it.
8. PARENTS IN CLASS PROCEDURE:
- 8.1. Me & My Grown Up (18months+): One Parent/Guardian is needed to assist their child in this class. As most of these classes run at capacity, we ask that if both parents are wanting to dance with the child, that you tag team and do 15mins with one parent & then 15mins with the other parent. Siblings are allowed to sit in on the class, to the side of the room. This allows us to clear as much space as possible, for our dancers to move about freely around the studio.
- 8.2. Starlets Dance (3-5 years): The parents of our Pre-School Starlets may sit in and watch their child's class, although we ask that they may please keep noise level level to a minimum. Parents are not required to stay for classes, if you choose to drop off & pick up, please arrange another parent to assist with your child’s shoes change. Parents must sit to the side of the classroom on the allocated chairs. Parents must not move the seating arrangements of chairs and must not sit in the front or back facing direction of the class, as this can be a distraction to the students and teacher.
9. MISSED CLASSES & CATCH UP CLASSES POLICY:
- 9.1. I understand that if I miss a class during the term, I can catch it up by booking in for a similar class on another class day in my child’s age category.
- 9.2. Catch up classes must be booked in the same term in which they were missed. I understand that missed classes cannot be credited to my next term’s fees.
- 9.3. Catch Up classes are capped at a LIMIT OF 2 CLASSES PER STUDENT PER TERM.
- 9.4. Catch Up classes must be booked in advance, by emailing the studio and booking in for an available time.
- 9.5. Once booked in, if you are unable to attend your catch up class, it cannot be rescheduled, as this spot is held exclusively for your child.
10. ONLINE CLASSES POLICY:
- 10.1 In the event that ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO cannot operate on premises, due to a lockdown or similar event, lessons will transition online and be held via Zoom. I understand that fees are unable to be credited or refunded in this instance.
11. CHILD SAFETY POLICY:
- 11.1. I understand that ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO teachers have been trained in Child Safe Practices and that ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO adopts the child safe policy to best ensure the safety of all students.
12. ACCIDENT/INJURY/DISCLAIMER POLICY:
- 12.1. I understand that all physical activity involves some degree of risk of bodily strain or injury.
- 12.2. I understand that dance classes may include, stretching, barre work, floor work combinations, dance routines and similar activities.
- 12.3. I hereby acknowledge that my child is physically fit to participate in dance classes & concerts and allow my child to participate accordingly.
- 12.4. I understand that it is my responsibility to inform ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO of any previous or current injury/illness/allergy of my child, prior to participating in any dance classes.
- 12.5. I understand and agree to accept that ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO will not be held responsible for any accident/injury arising from dance classes. I agree to release and hold harmless ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO and it’s owners and staff from any claims, liability, demands and causes of action whatsoever, arising out of or related to any loss, damage or injury, that may be sustained by the participant, while on the premises of ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO or whilst on route to or from ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO.
13. FOOD IN THE STUDIO POLICY:
- 13.1. Students are not allowed to eat DURING CLASSES, as this can be a distraction for students & can present a choking hazard whilst dancing. Classes allow time for drink breaks only, please consume food before entering or after classes.
- 13.2. For siblings who watch classes, if siblings are eating during the lesson, please ensure food items will not crumble and leave any crumbs on the floor. For example, NO CHIPS, BISCUITS or anything that is crumbly is allowed to be taken into the studio.
14. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY POLICY:
- 14.1. I understand that all choreography and hire costumes from ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO remain the property of ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO and that written permission must be made to ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO, if either are to be used outside of the dance studio.
15. OUTSIDE OF DANCE CLASSES:
- 15.1. I understand that ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO is not responsible for any student outside of their enrolled class times, this includes students outside of the classroom, as well as the car park and outside of the building.
16. PERSONAL PROPERTY POLICY:
- 16.1. I understand that all personal belongings are the responsibility of the individual and that ILLUMINATE DANCE STUDIO will not be held responsible for the loss or damage of personal belongings left on the premises.
17. CONCERNS/COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE:
- 17.1. I understand that any concerns or complaints must be made out in writing to [email protected]
